American Seating, MVTA team up for holidays

American Seating and the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) are partnering to promote public transportation during Thanksgiving Holiday weekend and the weekend of Dec. 12 to 13.

MVTA won American Seating's "Ticket to Ride" promotion at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Exposition in October 2008 and previously used some of the money for a promotion in connection with "Read and Ride Day" at the Minnesota State Fair. The MVTA has sufficient funds to support this additional promotion.

"MVTA has been a long-time customer of American Seating's, so we are excited to collaborate with them to help promote and increase ridership throughout their system," said Dave McLaughlin, vice president, transportation sales, for American Seating.

Added MVTA Chair and Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz: "Partnerships are key. In days of funding constraints, we need to take advantage of every opportunity that helps increase the visibility of public transit and that provides our customers an economic break."

MVTA is the public transportation provider for residents and businesses of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Rosemount, and Savage.
