NEWARK, N.J. — New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) has asked the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority to authorize the spending of $75 million originally intended for the ARC tunnel for 100 new multi-level railcars, now that the tunnel project has been cancelled, according to The Record.
A chief planner from NJ Transit told the board on Monday that the railcars have already been ordered and are due to arrive in early 2012, however, it was not clear how the agency planned to pay for the vehicles in the first place. For the full story, click here.
