San Antonio council approves streetcars

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The area's city council agreed to fund VIA's Metropolitan Transit Plan, which includes a new streetcar system as well as a bus circulator route that would connect other parts of downtown, according to KSAT 12.

The $180 million dollar project will be funded through $55 million from the city ($15 million of which will come from a yet to be approved assessment district along the corridor), $55 million from Bexar County and $70 million from VIA.

The streetcar line is expected to be completed by 2015. For the full story, click here.
