Telvent, IVU to extend AVL, real-time passenger info partnership

Telvent GIT, S.A., a real-time IT solutions and information provider, will extend collaboration with IVU Traffic Technologies AG, a Berlin-based IT company that develops solutions for the transportation industry.

The companies, which have already collaborated in Automatic Vehicle Location Systems and Real-Time Passenger Information Systems projects, will work together to provide accurate arrival times to transit agencies and passengers in North America.

Telvent will offer IVU fleet management solutions within projects that will also include passenger information, voice annunciation, driver console and the rest of the hardware involved, where synergies between both companies occur.

The combined transit solutions will empower transit agencies and operators to track and manage vehicles using advanced, real-time positioning data. The analysis of routes, stops and schedules will provide decision support information for operators and advanced reporting to transit agencies, reducing operating costs, enabling schedule compliance and a more efficient use of resources, according to the companies.

The collaboration will also provide bus, train and light rail passengers with accurate information on arrival times for their destinations.

The collaboration with IVU Traffic Technologies AG further positions Telvent as a technological leader in advanced transportation solutions. The company has successfully executed a wide range of transit management projects in Europe, North and South America and the Asia Pacific region, and assures the safe travel of more than 2.5 billion passengers worldwide.
