CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Supporters of a 17.3-mile light rail route in the Orange-Durham transit plan said it is critical to concentrating economic and residential growth around its stations and minimizing sprawl, The Chapel Hill News reported. The proposed route would run from University of North Carolina hospitals to Durham.

Those opposed to the plan said only 4.3 miles will serve southern Chapel Hill and there’s no plan for a direct link to Research Triangle Park or Wake County, which may mean that most people paying for the system will not use it. For the full story, click here.
