Wash. senators sponsor bill to stop light rail

OLYMPIA, Wash. — A bill sponsored by two state senators would block the Washington State Department of Transportation from spending money on the design or construction of the Columbia River Crossing project if it includes light rail, reported The Oregonian.

Many Southwest Washington legislators and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee support the light rail component of the project to replace the I-5 bridge. In addition to funding the $450 million in construction costs, the state would still need to come up with money for light rail operation and maintenance. To read the full story, click here.
