TRENTON, N.J. — The AP reported that NJ Transit riders will be spared fare increases for the upcoming year. The decision was made despite the state accruing more than $2 billion in Superstorm Sandy-related expenses and tapping out its snow removal budget.
NJ Transit Executive Director Jim Weinstein told the state Senate Budget Committee that he expected the $450 million in damages from the storm to be covered by insurance and the federal government. For the full story, click here.
