IOWA CITY, Iowa — A preliminary draft of a proposed agreement between Iowa City and Johnson County over funding of the SEATS paratransit transit includes several changes, including the possible cut of Sunday services and the half-fare option, according to an Iowa City Press-Citizen report.
SEATS is a paratransit service funded by the county but used most heavily by residents of Coralville, Iowa City and North Liberty. Although county officials say they are scaling back the county’s contribution toward funding the city-mandated program because of declining funds, officials from the three cities have argued that a large portion of that subsidy already comes from city taxpayers.
The draft could reach the Iowa City Council for a formal vote in June. For the full story, click here.
