MCI to supply Los Angeles with 84 Commuter Coaches

The CNG-powered 40-foot coaches will be the first MCI models in the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s fleet. Each coach will be wheelchair-lift equipped and feature MCI’s Cummins ISL G 8.9 liter, 320hp engine, which meets 2010 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California’s California Air Resource Board (CARB) standards.

Yasushi Mikuni, the driver of a tour bus that crashed in Utah and killed three Japanese tourists last year, pleaded guilty to reduced charges. Mikuni, who escaped the accident with minor injuries, was driving for Canyon Transportation Inc.

The 94 percent on-time performance for 2010-11 is up from 91.7 per cent in 2009-10. The new statistics were part of the GO Transit Quarterly Board Report, which were presented at the most recent Metrolinx Board meeting in April.
