Illinois to distribute $500M in transit funding

The funding, provided through the Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction program, will create and retain an estimated 18,000 jobs and improve traveler safety. Includes $253 million for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), $157 million for Metra, and $32 million for PACE.

CVSA taps new executive director

Stephen A. Keppler has 18 years of experience in the transportation industry. He has been employed with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance since 2000 in the position of Director of Policy and Programs and most recently as its Interim Executive Director.

TriMet opens first bike and ride facility

NYC subways to get Wi-Fi, cell service

Within two years of an order to proceed from the MTA, Transit Wireless must install cell phone and wireless Internet service at six stations; secure at least one major cell phone carrier for the stations and demonstrate the effectiveness of the system.

PBSJ to merge with UK company

Once the transaction has been completed, PBSJ will operate as a national business of Atkins in the U.S., and will be led by current PBSJ CEO Robert Paulsen, reporting directly to Atkins's chief executive.
