Alstom to supply Amsterdam metro

The municipality of Amsterdam has placed an order with Alstom Transport for 23 metro trainsets, for a total amount of around $272 million. The contract includes an option for additional metro trainsets for the North/South line which is under construction.

Cubic wins $15M South Florida smart card contract

Tri-Rail, the commuter rail service connecting Palm Beach and Broward Counties with Miami-Dade County, will be the first transit agency to join in the creation of a South Florida regional system, giving Floridians the ability to use one fare card — a smart card — to travel on both systems. Palm Tran and Broward County Transit are expected to join later.

U of Mich. plans new transit center

Partially funded by ARRA, the project will reduce traffic, improve pedestrian safety, and provide bus stations that will be able to accommodate more buses from both the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority and the University.

Rutgers weighs added bus service

Students request more buses on weekday and weekend routes; the university's Parking and Transportation Services department says proposed changes are dependent on state funding and raising student fees.
