Negotiators for BART's two largest employee unions left a bargaining session in Oakland late Sunday. Meanwhile, talks between AC Transit and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 192 are continuing. The agency is still running service, even though no new labor agreement was reached.
Finalists include Richard Ruddell, president and executive director of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority in Texas; Frank T. Martin, an executive with a transportation services company in Orlando, Fla.; and Charles Monheim, formerly with New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Berkeley is offering 1,000 free AC Transit passes as part of an effort to mitigate its parking problem and reduce greenhouse gases. The passes will go to employees of downtown businesses as an incentive to get them to stop driving to work and taking up street parking.
