Amtrak, Mich. open $3.6M revamped station

The city of Battle Creek’s the Intermodal Transportation Center, used by Amtrak and other carriers, features include a new entrance/passenger drop-off area, fenced long-term parking lot, improved exterior lighting and landscaping, as well as remodeled office space for Amtrak and other tenants.

N.C. to allow buses to drive on highway shoulders

New program to allow buses to travel on the shoulders of selected highways in times of heavy traffic congestion to help maintain transit schedules and bypass problem areas. They would only be allowed to use the shoulders when travel speed in the highway lanes fell below 35 miles per hour.

NJ Transit to change bike policy in July

In response to customer feedback and comments from the bicycling community, agency officials asked the North and South Jersey Transportation Advisory Committees to review NJ Transit’s existing bicycle policy and make recommendations that could safely reduce restrictions limiting bicycle access on trains.

MBTA to pilot rail fare payment app

Launched a website for customers to sign up for project updates on its pilot program to let commuter rail riders purchase and display tickets on their smart phones. Expects to pilot the program on one commuter rail line in the early fall.
