Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract by Trenitalia (Italian Railways) for the supply of 48 TRAXX electric locomotives, valued at approximately $130 million.
The new locomotives will be used to reinforce and partially replace Trenitalia's current fleet used for passenger regional transportation.
Delivery is scheduled to take place between Sept. 2005 and 2006.
