WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, as the National Transportation Safety Board held a three-day hearing to investigate the fatal Washington Metro crash that killed nine people last June, a group of Democratic senators led by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D., Conn.) introduced a bill that would allow for new federal rail-transit safety standards and offer federal aid for states to hire staff to enforce the new rules, reported The Wall Street Journal.
