FTA extends NJ Transit repayment deadline

NEWARK, N.J. — The Federal Transit Administration granted New Jersey Transit more time to decide on whether it will reimburse the U. S. Department of Transportation for $271 million spent on a Hudson River commuter rail tunnel Gov. Chris Christie canceled last October, according to the Record.

Christie cancelled ARC after projections showed the project could go at least $1 billion over its $8.7 billion budget. The new deadline is Jan. 18, 2011. For the full story, click here.
