China’s rush to high-speed rail sparks glitches

LOS ANGELES — In the weeks since it opened to great fanfare on the eve of the Chinese Communist Party's 90th anniversary celebration on July 1, China's high-speed rail line between Beijing and Shanghai has experienced delays brought on by a short-circuit and power outages, the Los Angeles Times reported. 

While bad weather was blamed for the incidents, suspicion abounds that China’s high-speed rail project, among others, had been rushed to open in time for the party's anniversary. For the full story, click here.
