Wisconsin terminates Talgo maintenance contract

MADISON, Wis. — State officials canceled a $116 million maintenance contract with a Spanish-owned train manufacturer Talgo, escalating a dispute over two new trains that already have cost the state $71.8 million, according to the Journal Sentinel.

In a letter, a state lawyer said the costs of testing the trains are rising and that they do not meet federal accessibility standards for the disabled. A spokesperson for Talgo Inc. denied both points and warned the cancellation could lead to legal action. For the full story, click here.
