The full restoration of service will come two days after the collision incident, following the removal of two incident trains from the 96 Street subway tunnel, repairs to the tunnel’s tracks and the third rail, and a safety inspection of the tunnel area.
The entirety of the new Caltrain fleet must meet all safety and quality standards before the launch of electrified service in the fall of 2024.
The new service will be introduced as a train-to-train transfer at the Metrorail Transfer Station in Hialeah.
Court St Station marked the 53rd and final station to be re-NEW-vated in 2023, surpassing NYCT’s promised goal of upgrading, repairing, and deep cleaning 50 stations by the end of 2023.
With the Red Line work completed, the weekend will be free of any scheduled track work going into New Year's Eve when train service systemwide will be extended to 2 a.m. to accommodate workers and revelers ringing in the new year.
