NTSB to meet on 2009 D.C. Metro train collision

Analysis of the collision that occurred between two Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority trains on the Red Line on June 22, 2009, along with conclusions and a determination of probable cause, will be presented at the July 27 board meeting.

TriMet taking measures to enhance safety

After a top-to-bottom safety review that began shortly after a fatal bus accident last April, the agency will recruit a Director of Safety and Security, require all personal electronic devices be turned off while operating a bus or train and form a Safety and Service Excellence Task Force.

UNLV gets $2.8M for transit center

The U.S. DOT grant, received by the RTC of Southern Nevada, will be applied to connecting UNLV to downtown Las Vegas and the northwest valley via the new ACExpress C Line. Additionally, a future BRT line will connect the campus and the transit center.

Livability initiative grant winners receive $293M

Six new streetcar and bus rapid transit projects will be funded with $130 million from the FTA's Urban Circulator Program, and 47 additional projects aimed at upgrading bus services and facilities are slated to receive more than $163 million from the FTA's Bus and Bus Livability Program.
