SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The City Council is likely to endorse, on a trial basis, the expansion of SPARTA express route from University of South Carolina Upstate to the George Dean Johnson Jr. College of Business and Economics downtown. The university will pay the costs of operating the route, including wages for the driver and vehicle and fuel costs. The city will support the trial by absorbing the overhead costs of management, supervision and insurance costs, according to a Spartanburg Herald-Journal report.
