Allentown, Pa.’s Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority (LANTA) and Lehigh University agreed to a partnership that permits students, faculty, and staff to ride LANTA’s fixed-route system at no cost to the rider. The announcement was made jointly by LANTA and the university.

LANTA has programmed its farebox equipment to recognize all Lehigh identification cards to register the rider. The authority and university have agreed on a reimbursement rate per trip taken.

“The Lehigh Valley is fortunate to have several colleges and universities, both private and public, with thousands of students, faculty, and staff,’ said O’Neil. “LANTA is happy to work with these institutions using our regional transportation network to meet the needs of the campus community.”

The new fare process and structure are effective immediately.
