RIVERSIDE, Calif. — About 4% of the Riverside Transit Agency's riders use Dial-A-Ride, but the service consumes 18% of the agency’s budget. Per a pilot program started late last year, the agency is teaching seniors and people with disabilities how to ride regular, fixed-route buses instead, according to a Press Enterprise report.
More than 200 people have taken the training since mid-November, and another 107 are on a waiting list, Werly said. The trainees had taken 5,026 trips as of late July, the paper reported. For the full story, click here.
