A new Chicago city ordinance makes smoking illegal in transit stations throughout the city, including the majority of Union Station.

The Clean Indoor Air Ordinance will prohibit smoking on Union Station’s train platforms, in the food court and within 15 feet of the building’s exterior entrances.

Smoking will only be permitted in a portion of a café and tavern. Violators could be fined up to $100.

Smoking is already banned in most areas within the station.
