Union Switch & Signal Inc.(US&S) received four contracts for signaling and control systems having a total value in excess of $100 million.
US&S, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., and with manufacturing operations in Batesburg, S.C., will provide systems for the Chicago Transit Authority; the Port Authority of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Tri-Met in Portland, Ore.; and Railtrack plc. in the United Kingdom.
Some systems, including Chicago Transit, Allegheny County and Tri-Met, will feature the US&S microprocessor-based Microlok II wayside control package, switch machines and wayside signals.
The agreement with Railtrack includes plans to design, build and install a Network Management Center system for its massive West Coast Route Modernization program.
