Ill.’s Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) board of trustees announced Michael Stubbe as its new executive director. Stubbe will be replacing Rick McVinnie, who will be stepping down. McVinnie, who has served as executive director for 25 of his 42 years with RMTD, will be retiring in 2018. McVinnie will be working as an advisor to Stubbe and the board to assist with the transition until his upcoming retirement.

He has spent the last 11 years at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) where he recently served as interim VP of safety, compliance, and risk management and was responsible for the overall management of the CTA’s safety program.

During his tenure at CTA, Stubbe has held positions as director, transit instruction, where he was responsible for the transit operations training program for bus and rail operation employees, and director, bus operations, where he was responsible for the performance and delivery of bus service from two of seven bus garages. Prior to joining the CTA, Stubbe worked for 11 years at the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District where he held positions in bus operations management and planning.
