Senate passes short-term extension of MAP-21

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Over the weekend, the Senate passed a two-month spending extension for federal transportation projects that puts off a decision on long-term funding for road, bridge and rail transit projects until the height of the summer construction season, Reuters reported.

The unanimous voice vote sends the measure to President Barack Obama for signing into law before current transportation spending authority expires on May 31. The White House said Obama would sign the short-term fix if work continues towards a long-term bill. For the full story, click here.
