DALLAS — A proposal for high-speed rail from Dallas to Houston picked up speed Wednesday when the Federal Railroad Administration announced that it will do an environmental impact study on the project, the Dallas Business Journal reported.

The rail proposed by the Texas Central High-Speed Railway would transport passengers from Dallas to Houston in about 90 minutes. The project would be completely private without using any government subsidies. The project is scheduled to start service by 2021, according to the report.
