The United Motorcoach Association (UMA) announced that Scott Michael has been named president and CEO.

Michael will begin his tenure at UMA on Oct. 4.

Current president and CEO Larry Killingsworth will stay on at UMA during the month of October to facilitate the transition.

The announcement followed a nationwide recruitment process that began in June. UMA vice chairman David Moody led the executive search along with other UMA Members.

"After months of work, perusing through resumes, Zoom interviews and in-person interviews,” Moody said. “I believe that UMA has found the individual with the right skill set and experience to move our organization and industry forward as we rebound, restore and learn what normal is again."

Michael was the president and CEO of the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) for five years. He spent 26 years at AMSA with roles including serving as the industry’s liaison with the U.S. military.

The Oregon native was also the executive director of the Moving and Storage Institute. He served on the board of directors for the American Highway Users Alliance.
