"The S" is the brand of the newly formed Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority which was put together to improve operations in Stanislaus County. The new authority was formed in 2021 through the consolidation of Modesto Area Express (operated by the City of Modesto) and Stanislaus Regional Transit (operated by Stanislaus County).

“We are really proud to have been selected to partner with the Authority to complete the consolidation and operation of these services for Stanislaus County,” said Ibrahima Toure, Transdev’s regional vice president for its southwest region. “As a national mobility solutions provider, Transdev is able to bring innovative operations tools to help improve efficiency for the system and focus on consistent, positive customer experiences for the passengers.”

“The S”, as it now called, is the main provider of local and regional public transit in Stanislaus County.

“We are looking forward to lending our experience and technological expertise as we work together to implement a simplified fare structure, roll-out new paratransit scheduling software, integrate automated vehicle locator (AVL) software and new safety tools including Lytx DriveCam and Mobileye,” continues Toure. “At the end of day, it’s about bringing safe, efficient and reliable service to our passengers — we trust the passengers will see that.”
