CHICAGO — Regional Transportation Authority Chairman John Gates Jr. apologized late last month for comments he made during a meeting in which he called paratransit service “federally mandated limousine service,” the Chicago Tribune reports.
Gates said at an RTA board meeting that the remark was “off the cuff and thoughtless." He added that the RTA fully supports paratransit service for 50,000 certified users a year at an annual cost of 140 million dollars. To read the full story, click here.
