Some have trouble boarding VIA Metropolitan Transit buses and have suffered falls resulting in injuries. The buses and their ramps meet ADA standards, but many of the bus stops are not built to accommodate bus ramps, which causes riders to navigate steep climbs.
Says the service is necessary because existing township, county and private services are not adequately meeting the needs of seniors and people with disabilities in the community.
