Congressional budget cuts could take away $68 million in federal grants from King County Metro Transit, which could impact five of its six bus rapid transit lines.

The Central New York Regional Transportation Authority plans to ask the university to increase its annual payment, currently $1.3 million, to help close an $8.4 million budget gap.
Currently, the station is home to Amtrak, Metrolink, Metro Red and Purple Lines, Metro Gold Line, L.A. FlyAway, and numerous Metro and municipal bus lines serving Los Angeles County and beyond. The station is also home to several new retail businesses.
The $27.1 million line would extend 8.6 miles northwest along Mesa Street from the current Downtown Transit Terminal near the Paso del Norte International Bridge, ending at the new Westside Transit Terminal.
All 18 new coaches will be assigned to the routes, which MTA manages through contracts with local independent operators.
The university said the $4.5 million purchase would give them more parking for events and its new business school, both of which are within yards of the transit center.
Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill may significantly increase transportation costs. Federal funding can only be issued when transit workers have collective bargaining rights, which the bill aims to take away.
The service began on an interim schedule, with those interested able to book travel on the company's website anytime past February 18.
