TTC introduces the "personal car" for April Fool's Day

The "personal car" allows customers do whatever they like while riding the subway - wear bulky backpacks, eat a meal, put their feet on the seats, play loud music, block doors and, yes, clip their nails. The "personal car" is only in affect until noon, April 1. After that, the TTC simply asks that everyone be considerate of their fellow rider.

5 TTC transit enforcement officers face criminal charges

An investigation culminated in the dismissal of eight TTC transit enforcement officers, five of whom were arrested and face charges of attempt to obstruct justice and fabricate evidence. The five officers allegedly submitted false offense tickets to individuals of no fixed address for panhandling on TTC property, loitering or trespassing.

From Oct. 3, 2011 to Oct. 2, 2012, the TTC carried just over 510 million riders. By the end of this year, the agency expects to have carried 514 million riders, with a projected ridership of 528 million in 2013.

The corrosion- and fatigue-resistant stainless steel structure of the LFS Artic, as well as its proven track record and overall design were key features for the TTC. Nova Bus vehicles for the TTC will be entirely assembled in Canada and feature a high level of Canadian content.
