The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has named Bernard Cohen to direct its Lower Manhattan Recovery Office in New York, effective Jan. 26. Cohen previously served as a deputy managing director at the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co. He's also held senior management positions at the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. Since it opened in 2002, the FTA's Lower Manhattan Recovery Office has, among other things, managed the design and implementation of a pioneering risk assessment system and negotiated an environmental review process that will ensure environmental stewardship while expediting the project.
