Hursh, a nine-year veteran of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), has served as that agency’s Chief Operating Officer since 2012 and prior to that as deputy director, operations for maintenance and security.
The “Travel by Book” initiative was the brainchild of Victor Miron, a local literacy advocate, who initially proposed the idea to the city’s mayor in 2014. Miron hopes to establish the campaign as a regular event.

Joseph M. Casey, who has led the Authority since 2008, has been with SEPTA for a total of 34 years of distinguished service in a number of roles, including serving as the CFO and Treasurer.
The Transit Pass allows free and unlimited use of METRO bus routes during the academic school year, including weekends and break periods.
