Mcity is the world's first full-scale simulated urban environment designed expressly for testing the performance and safety of connected, automated, and autonomous vehicles under controlled and realistic road conditions. The MTA gave preliminary approval to two contracts to Siemens Industry Inc. and Thales Transport & Security for the installation of a Communications-Based Train Control signaling system on one of New York City Transit’s busiest subway lines.
This addition will provide a uniformed fire officer in the “nerve center” of the Metrorail system 40 hours a week to help coordinate emergency communication between Metro and first responders.
