MBTA may lower paratransit fares

May change the price from $4.00 to $3.00. In a recent state survey measuring the impact of the 2012 hikes on seniors, a majority of RIDE users whose income is less than $2,000 per month said they cut back on food, personal grooming and transit trips.

BART unions sue over contract provision

They want a judge to order the transit agency to abide by the tentative deal that was reached Oct. 21. On Nov. 21, the BART board of directors approved only part of the deal, excluding a provision giving employees six weeks of paid family leave that they said they hadn't meant to include.

MBTA adding late night service

Beginning next year, service on all subway lines, light rail and the 15 key bus routes will run until 2:30 am on Friday and Saturdays. Service will not be extended on the commuter rail or ferry.

Calif.’s SamTrans to debut 25 Gillig hybrid buses

The new diesel-electric hybrid vehicles are replacing 1998 models, the oldest vehicles in the agency’s fleet. The buses will produce 90% fewer emissions than the buses they are replacing, and save $3 million in fuel costs over the next 12 years, according to SamTrans.
