NJ Transit may cut free employee passes

As part of Gov. Chris Christie’s emphasis on accountability to New Jersey taxpayers, the agency proposed changing its 30-year blanket privilege allowing non-agreement employees unlimited, free travel on rail, light rail and bus services.

TriMet, DART to debut mobile ticketing in 2013

TriMet signed a contract with local software company GlobeSherpa to pilot the system for its buses, MAX light rail and WES Commuter Rail. DART's system will be developed by Unwire, a Danish company with extensive experience in mobile ticketing for transit agencies, for $1.5 million.

Couple campaigns after paratransit service cut

Grant may allow Ore. transit to buy call center

Rogue Valley Transportation District would no longer have to lease the facility after receiving $1 million in federal funds. Savings from ending the costly lease payments could be put into other transportation programs, such as transit options for disabled veterans.

Wash. paratransit tightens disabled rider screening

New Palm Tran paratransit contract draws complaints

Riders and Palm Beach County Commissioners confronted the agency’s executive director about delays and long rides for the elderly and others with serious health issues, resulting from a new paratransit contract. The contractor convinced Palm Tran that its vans could, on their own, handle the Palm Tran Connection contract, a job previously done by three companies.
