Atlanta county hopes to join MARTA

The county’s bus service, C-Tran, would have been funded had the so-called T-SPLOST referendum been passed by voters in July. The agency ceased operations in 2010 after commissioners voted against funding the service.

Houston Metro targets worker safety during high temps

MetroRail and contractor Houston Rapid Transit are chilling 9,000 pounds of ice each day to make sure crews stay cool enough to work during the season’s high temperatures. Crews are given regular training to prevent and recognize heat illness and instructed to be aware of and limit disturbance to the community during early hours.

Metro-North continues real-time rollout

Poughkeepsie, which serves nearly 2,000 customers each day, becomes the seventh station in the Metro-North system to have LCD monitors that provide detailed information, such as departure or arrival time, track assignment and status, for the next nine trains, including Amtrak trains.

NJ Transit pilots special events online ticketing

Offering the Meadowlands online ticketing option as a pilot program to test the functionality of the web ticketing application and evaluate the feasibility of expanding it to include other services. The first phase of the pilot will be in place for the upcoming football season, as well as for other stadium events.
