NJ Transit to change bike policy in July

In response to customer feedback and comments from the bicycling community, agency officials asked the North and South Jersey Transportation Advisory Committees to review NJ Transit’s existing bicycle policy and make recommendations that could safely reduce restrictions limiting bicycle access on trains.

MBTA to pilot rail fare payment app

Launched a website for customers to sign up for project updates on its pilot program to let commuter rail riders purchase and display tickets on their smart phones. Expects to pilot the program on one commuter rail line in the early fall.

Key Utah bus route sees low ridership

The joint venture between the Utah Transit Authority, Summit County and Park City only averaged only about 38% ridership. It needed to hit 90% to break even. However, officials are committed to the route for at least one more year.

The first iPhone app the MTA has developed itself can also be used on for iPod Touch and iPad. Key features include overviews of line service changes, as well as text summaries of the changes; text-based information about any service changes impacting a borough; and details on any service changes impacting that station.
