The alleged attacker who took over Muni’s computer systems has demanded 100 bitcoin, equivalent to $73,000, in ransom for stolen city data. The SFMTA has said it refuses to pay the ransom.
Meanwhile, a person who may have spread the malware that disabled Muni computers said they want $73,000 as ransom in exchange for captured transit agency data.
The plan is intended to help prevent pedestrian deaths by reducing speeding and encouraging safe driving. Recently, a paratransit bus struck and killed an 86-year-old woman.
The pass will provide unlimited Muni use and a 25% BART discount for trips starting or ending at the Daly City stop, which is south of San Francisco.
The goal of the fee, which is also described as a discount for Clipper card users, is to persuade more riders to use Clipper or a Muni fare app, speeding boarding times and cutting costs.
The work was done at the CCW North facility in Alameda, Calif., with CCW providing transportation of the buses from SF Muni to Alameda to begin their upfitting.
The new regulations create an ongoing program that builds off an 18-month pilot set to expire at the end of January 2016. The fee charged to shuttle operators will increase to pay for stepped-up enforcement.
MuniMobile, the Bay Area's first systemwide mobile ticketing app, is available for single-ride bus, rail, and cable car tickets. Fares can be purchased in increments of 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day passports.
According to a report, the man used a semi-automatic handgun to rob the two people, then got off of that bus and got onto the next bus at that same stop.
