StarTran teamed with Spare to launch an on-demand microtransit program during the pandemic, while NEORide and Masabi brought mobile ticketing to 15 transit agencies in Ohio and Kentucky.
The agency joined 13 other transit agencies across Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky that already sell their fares on the EZfare regional fare payment system, which is powered by Fare Payments-as-a-Service provider, Masabi.
The three organizations have come together to enable Ohio and Kentucky riders to seamlessly and safely purchase and validate EZfare transit tickets, all within the Moovit app to facilitate a frictionless public transit journey with 13 local transit agencies.
Both journey planning and Uber Transit Ticketing are rolling out today and will be available to 100% of riders in the 13 local transit agencies in Ohio and Kentucky over the next few weeks.
EZfare enables passengers to access an account-based fare collection system for multiple transit agencies and receive electronic transfers.
