Transit installing audio surveillance on buses

Government officials are installing audio surveillance systems on public buses in cities such as San Francisco; Hartford, Conn.; and Eugene, Ore., to record conversations of passengers. The plans raise questions about legally protected privacy in public spaces.

GO Transit adds system tracker

GO Tracker is a Web tool that provides real-time GO Train departure information right in the palm of the customer's hand. On their mobile device or computer, passengers can view their estimated train departure times and platform information on GO’s website.

FMCSA shuts down Ill. operator

LEX Express was informed in the FMCSA’s notice that the company would be prohibited from operating its fleet of 30 passenger vehicles and 34 drivers on Dec. 7, 2012, unless FMCSA approved a corrective action plan to ensure safety compliance.

Santa Fe Ride customers complained to the Santa Fe Transit Advisory Board that the transit program is mismanaged, and forces unreasonable restrictions and rules on its riders. Attendees also asked about training for drivers on working with disabled clients.
