L.A. Metro launches ‘Riders Club’ for seniors

Agency staff members visit senior citizen centers around Los Angeles County to teach older adults about the benefits of public transit and familiarize them with local transportation options, whether it be Metro, Foothill Transit, local Dial-A-Ride or one of the other municipal operators.

FTA releases $15.5M for tribal transit

Seventy-two American Indian and Alaska Native tribes will receive a share of the funds. In particular, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians will receive $158,999 to purchase a vehicle to launch a new dial-a-ride transit service, and the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians will receive $25,000 for a transportation planning study.

Shopping center officials estimate that each week over 2,000 children will play in the newly renovated play area. The play area has nine main features for kids to jump, climb and slide on, including a miniature Montebello Bus Lines bus and bus stop, a hybrid car, a skateboard, a monarch butterfly and a six-foot Pine tree.

Fla.’s PSTA launches 3 new bus routes

The North County Connectors will offer bus service to many communities that have never had transit service before. Since the routes feature smaller buses that can divert up to three-fourths of a mile off of the regular route, a greater portion of the residents in those communities will be able to take advantage of the service.
