The Income Assistance Pilot Program launched in March to extend eligibility for transit discounts to individuals who receive public income assistance.
Funded by the President’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, more than 1,100 of the 1,800 vehicles being funded will use zero-emissions technology, which reduces air pollution and helps meet the President’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
Known as a straight shooter and strong advocate for public transportation, Harrison was lauded as “one of the good guys” by Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, who serves as chairperson of the LYNX board.
The House of Representatives is scheduled to consider the bill on Friday, August 12. If the House passes the bill, President Biden will sign it.
