It's taken Apple until June of this year to get public transit directions up and running within its mapping service, but now that it has, it has all but rendered HopStop obsolete.
The bill (HB 155) calls for soliciting proposals from companies that want to manage the authority. The winning bidder would receive a contract for a minimum of five years.
The 7.3-mile expansion of light rail service includes Tilikum Crossing – the only multimodal bridge of its kind in the country – dedicated exclusively to carrying MAX light rail trains, buses, streetcars, bicyclists and pedestrians across the Willamette River.

The U.S. Department of Transportation reportedly told Congress that the Highway Trust Fund isn’t going bankrupt as soon as expected, according to the report. Congress, though, would still need to reauthorize the program soon, with it now likely that it will probably be a three-year bill.
Matthew J. Cole was named president of CTS and sr. VP of Cubic Corp., effective October 1, while Stephen O. Shewmaker, who plans to retire in 2016, has been appointed chairman of CTS.

A Rutgers study is first step toward making it easier for adults on the autism spectrum to use public transportation.
The $4.9 million technology was funded in part with $2.2 million in federal congestion mitigation grants. By making bus riding more efficient, the STA hopes to attract additional riders and get more cars off the streets.
The Vine system will use 10 new, 60-foot buses, which will nearly double the passenger capacity of current bus routes. In addition, the buses will be served by new stations designed to make boarding quicker and easier, especially for the elderly and those with disabilities.
