Statistics for the first six months of 2011 show an increase of 4.93% as compared to the same January to June period in the previous year, according to the Canadian Urban Transit Association.
The project, funded equally by the World Bank and the Government of India, involves design, manufacturing, delivery and testing of Bombardier Mitrac propulsion and control equipment, as well as additional equipment including fans, compressors, passenger information systems and high voltage instruments.
The total construction cost for two lines is $1.6 billion. Each line is receiving a $450 million FFGA. The federal government has already set aside $484.5 million for the two projects as part of the FFGAs. Of that amount, Metro has received $84.5 million.
In addition, the agency is replacing all 3,500 bus stop signs. The new signs, for the first time, will provide route and schedule information.
Officials say it will be the first transit station in Florida and one of the first in the nation to be completely supported by solar energy.
The parties agreed to not disclose the value of the transaction, which is subject to the customary regulatory approvals.
The money will reimburse states for fixing or replacing highways, bridges and other roadway structures. Costs associated with detours, debris removal and other immediate measures necessary to restore traffic flow in impacted areas are also eligible.
