Greater Portland Transit District selected Gregory M. Jordan of Tempe, Ariz., currently the Deputy Public Works director for the City of Tempe, Ariz. where he provides leadership and strategic direction for the city’s multi-modal transit program.
He replaces Ray LaHood and will immediately confront safety and funding challenges in a large department that oversees the nation’s highway, transit, aviation and rail networks.
The Ventra system will offer transit customers the convenience and flexibility of a modern fare payment system, including faster boarding, account management and value protection.
Will continue Crisis Link through July 31, 2018. The program has handled an average of 2.75 incidents per month of people contemplating suicide on the transit system. No person has ever attempted suicide on the TTC immediately after speaking with a Crisis Link counselor.
Once downloaded, patrons can report suspicious activity, incidents that require law enforcement’s presence and crimes that may occur on board Metro buses and trains.
