SEPTA captures regenerative braking energy from trains

When SEPTA's trains brake at each stop to load and unload thousands of Pennsylvania passengers, the kinetic energy of the train is converted into electricity. The agency will capture the regenerative braking energy of trains through a large-scale battery storage system and will deploy that energy as virtual power into the region's supplier of wholesale power frequency regulation and energy markets.

S.F. MTA receives $61M for Central Subway project

Funds provided by the California Transportation Commission. The Central Subway plans tie directly into future high-speed rail service at the 4th and King station. It will also be three blocks from the Transbay Transit Center, the planned terminus for high-speed rail.

If a majority of House and Senate conferees approve the conference report, both bodies are then expected to take up the measure before the end of the week, prior to the expiration of the current extension of transportation funding on June 30th.
